Working with fragments and small molecules using Biacore SPR systems

In this presentation, we will focus on practical aspects of screening work using Biacore systems, related to hit identification and hit-to-lead characterization. Important aspects of low molecular weight (LMW)assay design will be discussed, including preparation of samples, buffers, sensor surfaces, and controls. We will also cover strategies for assay setup and workflows for screening.

Speaker:
Cynthia Shuman, PhD
Lead Application Scientist

Dr. Cynthia Shuman is a Sr. Applications Scientist for Cytiva. Dr. Shuman received her BScin Biochemistry from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA, and her PhD in Biochemistry from Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden. Prior to joining the Biacore team, Dr. Shuman was a scientist at SOBI and conducted post-doctoral research at Lund University and University of California San Diego. In her current role, Dr. Shuman trains and supports both industry and academic scientists in the evaluation of bio-molecular interactions.
